Couple claim South Australia's ninth largest lottery prize
20 June 2012
A couple from Adelaide’s northern suburbs has claimed South Australia’s ninth largest lottery prize, after winning the entire $13 million Division One prize pool in last night’s Oz Lotto draw.
The regular players presented their Easiplay Club-registered entry at SA Lotteries Head Office today, discovering their windfall when the draw results were broadcast on television last night.
“I was washing the dishes and happened to look at the TV when the results were shown,” the woman said.
“As we play the same numbers each week, I said to my husband, I think we’ve matched five numbers. I then looked again and realised that we had matched all seven!” she exclaimed.
After calling their children to inform them of the good news, the retirees had a sleepless night trying to comprehend their multi-million-dollar win.
“We haven’t slept a wink, but we have decided to share the money amongst family and make some investments for the future.”
The lucky locals purchased the winning entry at Topz Shopz Brahma Lodge, marking the forty-sixth Division One winning entry sold in South Australia so far in 2012.
SA Lotteries’ profits from Oz Lotto are distributed to State hospitals for the benefit of all South Australians.
South Australia’s $13 million Oz Lotto winners wish to remain anonymous and have therefore declined media interviews.
